Improv Weekend in Oakland! 2/29-3/1

  • Pan Theater 120 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza Oakland, CA, 94612 United States (map)

Back in the Bay Area!

I love the Pan Theater. The actors in the classes are focused, funny, smart, and eager to take their improv to the next level.

This weekend we’ll be focusing on creating scenes through emotional choices, playing the moment, building wonderful scenic tension, and surprising ourselves. You are all you need. Come join us and see.

Play the Moment
A moment means a pause, a reflection between lines of dialogue. It gives you time to respond truthfully to what’s happening in the scene. It can also be an indication of a new beat. In this workshop you’ll recognize the power of playing a moment and allow yourself to feel the impact of silence. It will change the way you improvise. Come see how!

Status
Knowing your status in a scene helps define your point of view. Changes in status keep your scenes alive and is the basis of character work. This workshop will show how status is a vital part of the engine that drives your point of view and pushes against your partner’s point of view. Identify your status, either high or low, and recognize when it shifts. Embrace it and fully commit to your new status.
