"Yes, it's THAT simple." Auckland, New Zealand, 29-31 July!

  • TheatreWorks, Birkenhead Birkenhead War Memorial Park, Recreation Drive, Birkenhead, Auckland 0626 New Zealand (map)

This exciting weekend intensive will focus on:

Seeing the first step - Attain calm self-awareness and control at the beginning of the scene, which will lead you to strong and clear points-of-view.

Getting specific without getting anchored down - Spice up your scenes by adding specifics to your scene world, playing them like the jazz musician all improvisers are! Your mind will soar, your characters will surprise, and your work will have a vibrancy never imagined.

Letting go and courageously moving on - If the beat feels like it's over, it's over. Clearly see what comes next. (And what's next is not panic!) If you think you know where your scene is going, you're probably missing out on some great experiences!

Reading your partner like a book - Become aware of what your partner is secretly asking you to do, and then confidently do it! It's ESP: Extra Sensory Performing.

Bonus: Guided Performance

As an extra part of the workshop, there will be a guided improvisation performance at 7:30 p.m. on the Sunday evening. This is an opportunity to put what you have learned into action. Participation in the performance is optional - but highly recommended!

Performing in a show directed by David Razowsky is a special event. His gentle, direct "side coaching" has proven to benefit all improvisers who have joined him. The cast of actors will be led through scenes with David keeping the actors focused on their points-of-view, following where the heat of the scene is and where the scenic surprises live. All this with a live audience!
